1And Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned to his house in peace, to Jerusalem.
2And Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out before him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is upon you from before Yahweh.
3Nevertheless, good things are found in you, for you have burned the Asherahs out of the land and have set your heart to seek God.”
4And Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem, and again he went out among the people, from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
5And he set up judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city.
6And he said to the judges, “See what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for Yahweh; and he is with you in the matter of judgment.
7And now, let the dread of Yahweh be upon you; take care and act, for with Yahweh our God there is no injustice, nor partiality, nor taking of a bribe.”
8And in Jerusalem also Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and priests, and some of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel, for the judgment of Yahweh and for disputes; and they returned to Jerusalem.
9And he charged them, saying, “Thus you shall act: in the fear of Yahweh, in faithfulness, and with a whole heart.
10And whatever dispute comes to you from your brothers who dwell in their cities—between blood and blood, between instruction and commandment, statutes and ordinances—you shall warn them, so that they do not incur guilt before Yahweh and wrath come upon you and upon your brothers. Thus you shall act, and you will not incur guilt.
11And behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in every matter of Yahweh, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the house of Judah, in every matter of the king; and the Levites are officers before you. Be strong and act, and may Yahweh be with the good.”
