1I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made on behalf of all people,
2on behalf of kings and all who are in positions of authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.
3This is good and acceptable before God our Savior,
4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus,
6who gave himself as a ransom on behalf of all — the testimony at its proper times;
7for which I was appointed a herald and an apostle — I am speaking the truth, I am not lying — a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8I want, then, the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or dispute.
9Likewise, the women are to adorn themselves in respectable dress, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly clothing,
10but with what is fitting for women who profess reverence for God — through good works.
11Let a woman learn in quietness, in full submission.
12But I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.
13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been thoroughly deceived, came to be in transgression.
15Yet she will be saved through childbearing, if they remain in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
